What we do

Learning an instrument at school is a great way to introduce or strengthen a child’s music experience. Northern Melbourne Music provide one-to-one, paired, and group lessons lasting for 30 minutes in multiple instruments during school hours for all ages and abilities.

Information for Parents

At Northern Melbourne Music we believe it’s important to make the learning of music a stress free experience for everyone! Our experienced teachers all hold a valid Working With Children’s Check, are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and are passionate about playing and teaching music!

Our teachers collect and return students to their classes from their music lessons, ensuring they are accompanied at all times. We plan our timetable around each school’s specialist timetable, to ensure they never miss essential classroom learning. Lessons are also available during lunch and recess times, to avoid school lessons altogether if preferred. We work closely with schools to plan ahead for excursions and incursions, ensuring your child always receive their regular music lessons!

Northern Melbourne Music only use tried and tested method books for our students that are appropriate for their experience and age. We also encourage students to share their musical interests, so they can finally learn to play their favourite songs!

We believe that learning to play an instrument should be fun (that’s why they call it playing!). No matter what the instrument, Northern Melbourne Music are here to make sure that learning an instrument is fun, engaging and enriching through every stage of your child’s musical journey.

The music program we provide is tailored to each individual student, so aims to engage, challenge, and enrich the lives of all students no matter their age or prior experience learning music. We also work closely with each school and teachers to ensure the needs of all students are still met in their classroom, whilst partaking in our music program. Northern Melbourne Music is also registered with SAM4Schools, and holds a public liability insurance of $10,000,000.

Lessons do not run during specialist classes, and timetables can be either provided in advance or flexible depending on the need of the school. We also provide reports to all students in terms 2 and 4 to coincide with the school calendar reports. Fees are also collected directly from parents/guardians so the program runs at no cost to the school, whilst also strengthening the extra-curricular options provided.
